Hello...

I’m a qualified registered BACP Humanistic/Existential Psychotherapist with over 25 years working within mental health. I spent the earlier part of my career in London, working within the NHS and private sector, with a wide range of complex needs, including acute adult mental health, child and adolescent services and eating disorders. My interpersonal approach means I place a great deal of importance on establishing the therapeutic relationship. I believe that as a client you need to feel safe, accepted and not judged in order to be able to explore what it is that has brought you to therapy at this time. My own natural existential philosophical gaze is how I understand my own life and existence and therefore is an authentic manifestation of how I am in the room which, I trust, is consistent irrespective of the client and their presentation.

Therapy with me...

My aim is to help each client gain an understanding of what it means to be themselves in the world. I do this by encouraging curiosity of self in areas of life such as choices and freedom; meaning and purpose; isolation and loneliness and the finite timeline of life and experience of death.
I respect the individuality of every client, each deserving a tailor made therapeutic experience based on their needs. I believe clients have within them the resources to understand themselves but sometimes need help reframing, understanding and signposting. The past exerts an influence, in that it provides a context to form insights of how what happened to you influences how you are today.

Experience

Working within mental health settings for over 25 years I have experience in a wide range of client presentations. More recently, alongside Private Practice..
my work has included University Counselling and NHS MindWorks Youth Counselling services.
