Hello...
Hi, I’m Jolian - a qualified, accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based in Barry, South Wales.
I specialise in helping people manage anxiety, whether it shows up as constant worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed and on edge.
You don’t have to face it alone. I offer therapy both in-person in Barry and online across the UK, so you can choose the setting that suits you best.
In our sessions, we’ll explore practical, evidence-based ways to reduce anxiety and build a sense of calm, confidence, and resilience. I use an integrative approach, meaning I tailor therapy to fit you - not the other way around.
I’m warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. We’ll work together to explore your unique challenges at your pace. My aim is to offer a space that feels safe, supportive, and empowering - where real change can happen.
Therapy with me...
How I Work – Integrative Therapy
As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches - including CBT, person-centred, ACT, psychodynamic, and compassion-focused therapies. This allows me to tailor sessions to your unique needs, rather than fitting you into a rigid method.
I believe therapy is most effective when it feels personal, flexible, and grounded in a strong, trusting relationship. We’ll work together to explore what’s going on for you, and I’ll bring in tools and techniques that feel most helpful at your pace.
For me, therapy isn’t just about theory - it’s about human connection.
“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.”
— C.G. Jung
Experience
My Professional Journey
Over the years, I’ve supported people in a wide range of settings - from leading anxiety management groups to working in psychiatric hospitals as an Independent Mental Health Advocate. I’ve worked with adults with learning disabilities, supported people affected by dementia, managed counselling services for those impacted by cancer, and provided specialist bereavement support. Each role has deepened my understanding of how anxiety, loss, and emotional distress can show up in very personal ways.
Qualifications:
• Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
• Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
• MSc (Res) in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences
• BSc (Hons) in Psychology
I’m committed to ongoing learning and regularly take part in CPD training to ensure I can offer the most effective and up-to-date support.
