I'm a counselling psychologist with over 10 years of clinical experience. I am the lead therapist at The Clearing and the founder of Kiku.

As your personal counsellor, I'll work alongside you to support you to achieve your goals.

I am approachable, warm and down to earth, and will always put your best interests at the heart of your therapy. Your wellbeing genuinely matters to me and that will always be my focus.

I am currently offering in person sessions from my clinic in rural County Durham, as well as online and telephone appointments.

Based only 25 minutes outside of Durham, The Clearing, County Durham is nestled between rolling green fields and moorland. Make a self-care day of it and bookend your session with a leisurely walk along the Waskerley Way, a place of outstanding natural beauty and such tranquility that it is bound to ground and relax you.

In the counselling process, we will work together as a team.

I will be there to walk alongside you every step of the way. My job is to pay close attention to you and your story - supporting you to join the dots and develop a kinder and more compassionate relationship to yourself and your history.

I'll bring your attention to what is going on – the cognitive leaps that you make, the language that you draw upon, the changes in your body language when you touch on certain topics – all of this with the goal of helping you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your situation.

Through this greater insight and by feeling all of the emotions that accompany it, over time, long lasting positive change can be achieved.

Experience

I have over 10 years of clinical experience.

I have worked in NHS primary and secondary care settings, as well as the charitable and private sectors. During this time I have supported people to address and overcome a wide range of complex difficulties.

I set up The Clearing in 2011 and since then I have gained a wealth of experience as a clinician, supervisor and a manager.

Areas of Expertise

My work is predominantly depth psychotherapy.

I am always keen to move beyond labels and pathologising to help you to get to a place of compassionate understanding of yourself, your behaviours and why you feel the way that you do.

I am particularly interested in supporting clients through life transitions, low self esteem, longstanding depression, existential crises, eating disorders and relationship difficulties.
