Hello...
Thinking about starting to work with a therapist can be a daunting prospect (I remember my own experience) You might have a really clear idea about how it works and what you want to look at. Or, finding a therapist and getting started might feel all bit bewildering.
I invite you think about it as a really useful conversation with someone who offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to bring whatever you want to look at.
You might be prompted to think about therapy by a particular incident, by a relationship which is causing you pain or that you want to be better, or maybe it’s a more pervasive sense that something is not right or that you want to be different.
I see my role as your therapist as the along-side mind that can help you unpick and find a new understanding about yourself and move towards a more fulfilling and chosen future.
Therapy with me...
My foundational training is in Person Centred therapy which really means that developing a strong and trusting relationship is really important. I work integratively, using a variety of methods and approaches to suit you and your focus and which might include looking at your history, childhood and links with the past, or focusing on the here and now and making sense of what’s going on for you in the present.
I believe that people have the resources and abilities within themselves to deal with their own difficulties. And also that an empathic ear and a supportive sounding board can help spot stuck places and unpick unhelpful patterns in thinking and doing and being.
Experience
I have been qualified for more than twenty years. I have worked as a therapist in the NHS, in the prison system and also in private practice.
Areas of Expertise
I have experience working with relationship issues, stress, self-esteem, depression, negative self-talk, and trauma.
If you need a specialist, I am able to offer therapy to people who are affected by Learning Disability, Neurodivergence
